Some days, I need a keeper. If you’re trying to find me, here’s the calendar, and some of the on-going projects in Sybir’s Realm.
Calendar
- May 2010 – starting a new story, goal: complete initial draft before the end of the month. Nick’s birthday this month!
- June 2010 – end of the school year, off to the beach, writing, more writing, and hopefully some editing. Definitely editing the newest story.
- July 2010 – My Birthday! Focused query rounds for the newest story. Can we tell I’m excited about it?
Exhilariting isn’t it? LOL. Keep more up to date with the main page. I update that the most frequently.
FAQs
- How long have you been writing romance?
I wrote my first full story in the 3rd grade, since then I finished a Young Adult novel, Rebirth, during Geometry class, Junior year, and it’s just gone on since then. I write, right now, at least one fiction novel a year (maybe more) and one non-fiction plus a plethora of business writing/professional writing in between. - Why romance?
My grandmother introduced me to romance at an early age. And for that, I thank her. I devoured those short historicals and contemporaries. I moved on to western romances, and then, finally found my home with Paranormals because of Johanna Lindsey’s switch from historical to fantasy. I love the story. I love the character development. I love alternate realities, maybe it’s because I hated (some of) my reality as a child? Who knows. I love reality now and writing. It is an art and a talent. - Do you speak at or meetings?
I do. Well, my alter ego does. But it’s not about MY writing, it’s about the process of writing and getting over ourselves. Check out www.mindbodyspiritworks.com to see Dr. Stacia Kelly’s schedule and speaking engagements. I recently did a workshop at the RWA National Convention in Washington DC. It was well attended. I’d only been looking for 10 to attend, and I had over 30 I’d say (and a best selling author in the group), plus some wonderfully helpful assistants in Cat/Kate, E. Tate, and JT. My girls ROCK. I have a pen name because once you’re known in a genre….you’re KNOWN in a genre. Since I am established with my real name in the professional alternative health care industry…I figured I’d better find something unique to use in Fiction. Sybir means in Latin, cyber, the art and science of technology. I am nothing if not a geek. I picked up Sybir in a few circuits and it’s stuck. The St. John part came from an RWA meeting with my girls….and we settled on it for the flow, and well, it honors one of my uncles who has been a guiding influence in my life. - Where do you get your ideas?
My brain comes up with some of the strangest ‘what if’s’ and I just run with them. Plus, the RWA Conferences usually give me a good lead on where I want to go next. The 2007 conference gave me my Goddess Chronicles that I’ve been steadily working on. And, I listen to the agents and the authors about what they’re looking for and what they’re writing.
